As we approach the 50th anniversary of Peter Brock’s inaugural Bathurst triumph, we look back and admire his extraordinary contribution to Australian motorsport and his place as the most prolific Bathurst champion of all time. The Holden legend conquered Mount Panorama an incredible nine times between 1972 and 1987, piloting some of the most iconic Holdens in history – LJ Torana GTR XU-1, LX Torana SS A9X, Commodore VC, Commodore VK and Commodore VL SS Group A – just to name a few.
In honour of Brock’s record nine Bathurst triumphs, it is only fitting that the Bathurst 1000 trophy now carries his name. Peter Brock is undoubtedly ‘The King of the Mountain’.
